Cabbage Soup Diet
Cabbage Soup Diet
The Cabbage soup diet is a weight loss program which will see you consuming a diet which is mostly cabbage soup. In fact, I know a couple of people who have tried the cabbage soup diet and have vowed never to eat cabbage or cabbage soup again in their lives. Sounds like fun doesn’t it? The diet is designed to be a kick start rapid weight lossĀ and to be followed for seven days only.
Many claim that they have lost up to 10 pounds of weight in a week. Obviously you would not be able to lose that much body fat in a week. In reality, you will probably lose both muscle and water. This, in reality could do more harm than good. The more muscle that you have, the more fat and calories that you burn. By losing lean muscle mass, you will burn fewer calories per day.
Basically, the diet revolves around eating as much cabbage soup as you wish.
Other liquids include unsweetened fruit juice and water. Please note that you can only consume unsweetened fruit and juice on the fruit days of the diet.
This is a typical example of what the diet involves.
Day one.
You can consume as much fruit and cabbage soup as you desire. This excludes bananas.
Day two.
Today it’s cabbage soup again and vegetables which includes a jacket potato and a small amount of butter.
Day three.
Guess what? More cabbage soup. You can also have fruit and veggies, but no potatoes or bananas.
Day four.
Mmm, more cabbage soup, skim milk (as much as you like) and up to eight bananas.
Day five.
Today you eat chocolate. (Just kidding) it’s cabbage soup again, up to six tomatoes and up to 20 ounces of beef.
Day six.
Yes, more cabbage soup and vegetables and beef (as much as you like) excluding potatoes.
Day seven.
Last day of cabbage soup. You may also consume vegetables, brown rice and some unsweetened fruit juice.
As you can see, there is plenty of variety (not)! The diet provides minimal servings of protein. As previously suggested, this may cause you to lose the lean muscle mass. This is not good. You may, lose some weight short term, but there is a fair chance that you will regain any weight lost and possibly gain an extra pound or two.
We at dietsdotcom.com are not big fans of this diet. There are many other diet and weight loss programs which will give you theĀ long term sustainable results that you are looking for.
Good luck and happy dieting.
